Caring for someone with an eating disorder?
Are you supporting someone who is suffering from an eating disorder?
First Steps ED are now offering Skills for Carers Workshops. The workshops are designed to support parents and carers and provide them with a toolkit of skills and ideas to support the sufferer.
Based upon the New Maudsley Method, the workshops help participants to learn how to reduce resistance to change by directing sufferers in a gentle, non-confrontational way towards finding their own solutions
Skills that can be developed in these workshops include:
- Role Modeling
- Rolling with resistance
- Caring Styles
- Acknowledging difficulties
- Goal setting
- Accepting relapse
- Recognising Stages of Change
Workshops are run monthly, for 3 sessions that take place in the evenings, as we have found this is more convenient for parents.
